Here I am re-steaming a white oak kayak cockpit coaming into a ‘taco’ shape. This is something I only do occasionally if I’m building one of my modern kayak designs with the optional raised back deck (easier cargo access). This helps keep the sides low so they don’t bump into the paddlers elbows, and it also looks kind of cool. (Note to students: do not try this on a flat back deck version because it will put the sides of coaming literally below the plane of the skin). . . . #steambending #woodw
