A fresh firmware update is now available for PS5 console owners, and this time, it does a whole lot more than just improve system stability. While Version 26.02-13.00.00 is headlined by an enhanced version of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), all PS5 console models will also be upgraded with several new features.

PSSR 2 is a fairly obvious leap

Regardless, these improvements have resulted in a run on the PS5 Pro, which have seen it go out of stock in the US on PS Direct. There are still other ways to obtain the pricey piece of hardware so it’s not completely unavailable, but it’s reflective of an uptick in interest.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has included a Showcase Mode in the latest PS5 system software update on the Welcome Hub. This is an optional feature that displays your background in full view after a set time while you are idle in the Welcome Hub.
